About Aerial Assault

Over the last few years I have started a number of blogs on a range of subjects from socio-political matters, satirical commentary on modern life, PS3 games reviews and even a stint on scale modelling.

Inevitably I have abandoned each of these blogs due to either a sense of disorganisation and clutter or lack of interest. I aim to change that with this blog.

I have been interested in scale kit modelling since I was a child. One day my father brought me home a kit of something, probably an aircraft. Over the years I remember building a Skyraider from Heller, an Airfix Saladin, several different figure sets from Revell and I even made a stab at building HMS Intrepid.

When I became a teenager my interest switched to Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy which I stuck with for quite a while despite how expensive a hobby it is.

War-gaming really didn’t suit me though and I switched back to scale modelling with my first kit being a M8 Greyhound in 1/35th scale. I toyed around with 1/35th scale armour, on and off, for a few years but I increasingly found it awkward especially as hand painting a model is the only medium currently open to me.

Last year I became seriously interested in scale modelling again and this time around I tried out an aircraft in 1/72nd scale; a Harrier GR.5 from Revell. It certainly wasn’t the best kit to start off with; in fact it is still half built in its box waiting a revisit.

But since getting that Harrier I’ve since become hooked and slowly begun building up a small stash. Since January I’ve finished two aircraft and have several others in various stages of completion. I’ve also become involved in campaign builds on Aeroscale and I’m thinking of getting involved in group builds on Britmodeller as well.

This blog will hopefully be a record of all of those efforts and will also; hopefully, gain some interest and a nice readership.
